An independent short film centered on an elderly man who has lived in profound solitude for many years. His stagnant daily life is disrupted by the arrival of a mysterious package, which serves as a catalyst for rediscoving a long-lost friendship. This emotional reconnection is bridged by his one remaining passion: tennis; a sport that becomes a powerful metaphor for his resilience and his journey back toward human connection.

Context

"Fragile" is an independent short film exploring the isolation of an elderly man living alone. The narrative centers on the rediscovery of a long-lost friendship sparked by a mysterious package and a shared, enduring passion for tennis. The challenge was to translate his internal solitude and the eventual emotional awakening into a cohesive visual language.

Approach

As Cinematographer and Editor, I developed a visual strategy that evolved with the character’s journey. I utilized a muted color palette and static framing to emphasize his initial isolation, transitioning to more dynamic compositions as the story unfolded. The lighting design was carefully crafted to balance naturalism with the film’s poignant, reflective tone.

Outcome

The final film delivers a powerful, intimate portrait of human connection. Through precise color grading and a deliberate editing rhythm, the project successfully bridges the gap between the protagonist’s nostalgic past and his present reality, resulting in a polished, emotionally resonant cinematic piece.
